Tri-County League

Pitching Rules

A pitcher once removed from the mound cannot return as a pitcher.

Pitch Count

7-8        50 pitches per day (max)

9-10      75 pitches per day (max)

11-12    85 pitches per day (max)

13-16    95 pitches per day (max)

Exception: If a pitcher reaches the limit while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until the current at bat is over.

Days Rest

  1. If a player pitches 66 pitches in a day, they need 4 calendar days rest

  2. If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, they need 3 calendar days rest

  3. If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, they need 2 calendar days rest

  4. If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, they need 1 calendar days rest

  5. If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, 0 days rest required

 

Catching/Pitching same day

  • A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of the day

  • Any player who has played the position of catcher in four or more innings in a game is not eligible to pitch on that day.  (If he catches on pitch in the fourth inning it counts as an inning, warmup pitches do not count.

 

 Tie Game for both leagues

  • Last out of previous inning starts at second with one already to start inning.  Both teams get chance to score.

Other General Rules for Majors

  • No leading off

  • 5 run rule per inning

  • Can walk bases loaded but cannot walk a run in, Tee is brought out, if count was 4-0 hitter gets 3 swings, if 4-1 get 2 swings, if 4-2 gets 1 swing.

  • If batter is hit by pitch with bases loaded the runner can come home

  • Batter cannot run on dropped 3rd strike.

  • Runners cannot score on a pass ball

  • Bats must have USA Baseball stamp.

  • Time limit is 1 hour 15 minutes, no inning starts after that.  Time as of last out of inning, not beginning of next.

  • Official game is 5 innings.

  • Home team responsible for emailing scores and pitch counts

  • No on deck batter

  • Mercy Rule 10 run lead after 4 innings 15 run lead after 3 innings

  • The whole lineup bats and players must play 2 consecutive innings in the field

  • If the runner has conceded and not advancing to next base and ball is thrown back to pitcher the play is dead.  If this occurs and the pitcher does not catch the ball the play is still dead and runner cannot advance.

  • Any rule not on here please refer to Little League rules

  • Balks - Each pitcher will get 2 warnings before a balk is called. We will rely on the coaches to really help their pitchers with the balk rules. 

  • All other rules are based on Little League baseball rules

Reminder: Runner can only score on hit ball, if runners leads off of 3rd and catcher throws to third and over throws, the runner still cannot score. If player in minors runs from third to home on a pass ball, the runner will be warned not to do again and sent back to third, if he does it again in game he will be counted out.
